Brooke Kinsella training

Brooke Kinsella is bravely taking on a challenge next month that would be immense for even the fittest amongst us!  On what would have been her brother Ben’s 21st birthday, she’s doing a Macchu Picchu Trek to raise money for his charity, The Ben Kinsella Trust.

After the tragic and untimely death of her brother in 2008 from knife crime in London, Brooke has devoted her time tirelessly to raising awareness about this type of crime amongst young people today in this country.  Despite her busy TV career, she still manages to arrange and manage numerous fund raising events to raise money for his charity.  Every penny raised goes towards educating young people across the country on the consequences of carrying knives and the damage it does to families and communities.  Brooke says “You may not think that knife crime will ever affect you but please believe that my family and many others are proof that it has become all too common in our societies and we don’t want anybody else to lose a child or a sibling”.

Take a look at this powerful and moving video to understand a little of Brooke’s plight:    http://youtu.be/aATWfQcG1Wc So, having taken on the Macchu Picchu challenge, she began a gruelling health and fitness regime.  “My detox starts tomorrow!” said Brooke “No alcohol for a month”.

For the last 6 months, Brooke has trained hard on her Hire Fitness LS7000 elliptical cross-trainer.  The solid, gym quality x-trainer has been helping her work on all areas of her body, whilst building both her strength and stamina.  “I did an hour on my cross-trainer today on the hardest level” said Brooke, having worked her way through the 16 levels.  The all body exercise achievable with the LS7000 should prepare Brooke well for her trek in Peru with Charity Challenge.

On the 27th September, Brooke posted on Twitter “So I’m trekking to Peru in 3 weeks……pretty sure I should be doing more?  Buying stuff, getting injections, practicing walking?  Uh oh……”  We have every confidence that she’ll excel at this challenge!

Brooke genuinely appreciates every pound donated to this worthy cause.  If you would like to donate, please go to her Just Giving page:    http://www.justgiving.com/brooke-kinsella All of us at Hire Fitness wish Brooke the very best of luck in Peru!
