How to get a Flat Stomach for Summer

Everybody would like to have a slim body and more importantly a flat stomach for summer. However, there are also more serious reasons for you to shed the excess baggage that’s around your midsection such as improving your health.  Visceral fat is not only the most irritating kind of fat, it is also very dangerous.  How to get a flat stomach for summer – we at Hire Fitness, Sussex and Kent, explain how you can get a flat stomach through diet and exercise.

Visceral fat is body fat that is stored deep within the abdominal cavity, around organs such as the pancreas, liver and intestines.  It secretes proteins that could trigger a chronic inflammation, which might lead to heart disease, cancer or diabetes.

So what can you do to reduce your visceral fat

The first thing you need to do to reduce your visceral fat and get a flat stomach for summer, is to eliminate saturated fats from your diet. By replacing saturated fats with healthy fats, you can keep your inflammation levels in check and even stop the belly fat from forming in the first place. Monounsaturated fatty acids can stop belly fat from forming and people who get a quarter of their daily calories through monounsaturated fatty acids do not gain any visceral fat. One of the best sources of monounsaturated fatty acids is from olive oil. The best thing about olive oil is that you can use it to prepare many meals.

Nuts and avocados are other good sources of monounsaturated fatty acids. You could add pine nuts to your diet because they are also a rich source of Polyunsaturated fatty acids. It is these acids that increase the level of hormones in your brain that signal when you are full. This means that you are going to eat less if you snack on pine nuts twenty minutes before having a meal.

People who have a chronically high level of a stress hormone called cortisol will tend to have an excess amount of visceral fat. The foods that have high glycemic index causes blood sugar to spike more rapidly, triggering cortisol to be released. This means that you need to eat foods that are low on the glycemic index. These foods include beans, lentils and chickpeas. Foods that have a high glycemic index include rice, potatoes and white rice.

Green tea that has been enriched with catechins, which are antioxidants, can help you to lose visceral fat around the belly. When the body has low levels of calcium, it will produce a hormone that’s going to signal your body to stash visceral fat. To help in reducing this hormone, you should try to consume the recommended daily amount of calcium, which is 1,000 milligrams. Calcium from dairy will have a better effect compared to calcium from the other food sources. Low fat yoghurt is recommended if you want to meet your daily calcium needs.

When it comes to exercises to lose belly fat, many people swear by crunches. However, the best exercise that you can do in order to lose belly fat is a cardio workout, which will burn more calories.  Running on a treadmill gives you a great cardio workout.  Running machine hire is an excellent way to get fit and lose visceral fat.  If you rent a treadmill you can exercise whenever you like in the comfort of your own home.  Call Michael at Hire Fitness, Sussex and Kent for details and prices on 0800 97 88 555

One bunch of fitness fanatics who don’t have a problem with visceral fat is the group who took part in the Guildford Aquathlon at the weekend (see the photo above).  The event is made up of an 800m swim in the pool at the Surrey Sports Park, followed by a 5k cross country run through the grounds of the university of Surrey.  The Race Director, Toby Jenkins said “This is a fantastic event suitable for those new to the swim / run combination and competitive athletes alike”.

If you’re determined to get fit in time for your holiday this year, you too can try the swimming and running combination or if you’d prefer, walking and cycling and you too will get a flat stomach for summer.
