Hire Fitness - Our Story

Our Rise to Success from one small Pilot Office to the World's Largest Fitness Equipment Hire Company.


Hire Fitness all began back in 2001 in Berkshire, after the birth of my first child. My wife wanted to return to shape after her pregnancy but we quickly realised that the cost of purchasing a high quality piece of fitness equipment was unaffordable. I researched the market and was surprised to learn that nobody was hiring good quality gym equipment anywhere in the UK or Ireland. I took the opportunity to fill that gap and Hire Fitness was born.

Hire Fitness Windsor was my small pilot franchise office which I used as a test bed for the new business model. It proved extremely successful very quickly as working out in a gym, isn't everyones idea of fun. It's said that us Britons spend £37 million a year on wasted gym memberships so the Hire Fitness alternative is a much better solution as you're in control and have total flexibility with hires starting from just 4 weeks.

After the success of my pilot office, we very quickly grew and now have the whole of the UK and Ireland covered with Hire Fitness sales offices.  We're clear market leaders with 15 franchises across UK and Ireland and wider Europe coming on board with France being the first.  I'm proud to say we're now the largest company in the world hiring gym quality fitness equipment. Each Hire Fitness franchise is a successful company in its own right.  Franchisees can devote as much time to the business as they can afford to commit; many work on a part-time basis so it fits in with other commitments, giving them a perfect work/life balance.  Each Hire Fitness franchise specialises in the short and medium term rental of home and office fitness equipment including treadmills, x-trainers, exercise bikes, vibration-plates and rowing machines.  Other specialist areas include supplying and designing first class gyms using our range of commercial grade equipment, in leisure centres, hotels, schools and universities plus supplying short term hires for film shoots and organised events.  I make sure that each franchisee is given thorough training to become experts in their field which includes specialist training to allow them to repair, service and maintain the fitness equipment to a very high standard.
